What’s New

Attention Book Clubbers!

August 28, 2015

We need your help!

We are going to tackle the job of creating a list of all the book clubs that meet in High Point outside the Library’s clubs.

If you are a member of a book club in High Point, we want to include your club. We will not share club information with the public unless your club authorizes us to do so for membership purposes. We will use this to alert area book clubs about Library events, including author visits, community read programs, book clubs, and to announce any new services that would be of interest to book clubs.

Please fill out this form if you want your Book Club included on our list: https://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/eventReg?oeidk=a07ebfir7rzeceef687&oseq=&c=&ch=

If you have any questions about this, please contact Julie Raynor at 883-3093 or julie.raynor@highpointnc.gov to be included in the list.

Thanks so much! We want Your Club to be “in the know” about what’s going on at Your Library!

Free and Low-cost Resources for Teachers!

August 10, 2015

Attention Teachers! Are you starting to think about getting back into your classroom for the year but need some new ideas and materials? Do you have some materials that have really worked for you that you’d like to share with others (at a low cost)?  Then be sure to check out Teacher's Notebook (www.teachersnotebook.com)!

Teacher’s Notebook is a great place to find, share, and sell original classroom materials. With a free membership, you can save an enormous amount of time and money by downloading ready-to-use resources. This resource is brought to you by OverDrive—the same company that provides access to the North Carolina Digital Library.

If you’d like more information about this free resource or how the NC Digital Library could benefit your students this year, contact Julie Raynor at 883-3093 or julie.raynor@highpointnc.gov

Uptowne Market Returns

May 15, 2015

The Uptowne Market has returned for their 2015 season! Located in the parking lot of the High Point Public Library located on 901 N Main St every Saturday from 8:30am-1:00pm through September 26th.

The Uptowne Market is not only a great place to purchase local produce and goods, but it is also a place to enjoy the day with family and friends. This year, we will be having live music, Yoga, food trucks, food demonstrations, face painting and more!

This season, all sorts of wonderful things will be offered at the market! Things like Strawberries and Gardening art will be sold and who better to buy them from than your own community? There’s no better way to strengthen your local community than to shop and eat locally! By visiting the Uptowne Market you support our local farmers as well as businesses and community members. Also, you support yourself by providing healthy and fresh food for you and your family.

The Uptowne Market would like to thank the following sponsors: The City Project, The High Point Public Library and The City of High Point

If you have any questions about the Uptowne Market please contact Uptowne Market Manager, Nic Covington at 336-883-8512 or email hpuptownemarket@outlook.com
