Listen to audiobooks in your browser!

For all of you avid listeners, there is good news! OverDrive has launched its newest service, OverDrive Listen! This allows you to listen to audiobooks in your browser – without having to download to a device.

This format offers the same benefits as OverDrive Read for eBooks.  

Highlights of OverDrive Listen:

*Change playback speed, add bookmarks, and make notes

*Save listening position, bookmarks, and notes

*Keep track of listening progress, bookmarks, and notes if you *have to renew an audiobook (as long as it's the same edition)

Forensic Science Camp

2015 Silent Witness Forensic Science Camp 

Last years CSI / Forensic Science Camp was such a hit, that we've decided to host it again this year!

Silent Witnesses is a free one-day Forensic Science Camp for all high school students who would like to learn crime scene processing principles in age-appropriate, fun, and exciting hands-on exercises.

Topics will include:  Behavior Behind the Crime, Crime Scene Processing, Death Investigations, Cold Cases, and so much more.  Forensic Specialist Dave Pauly will be on hand to teach you everything you've always wanted to know/ask about forensic science.

Please note: Students will be exposed to actual crime scene photos, cases, and mature subject matter.

Registration begins June 15 for this one-day camp and will remain open until all slots are filled.

Uptowne Market Returns

The Uptowne Market has returned for their 2015 season! Located in the parking lot of the High Point Public Library located on 901 N Main St every Saturday from 8:30am-1:00pm through September 26th.

The Uptowne Market is not only a great place to purchase local produce and goods, but it is also a place to enjoy the day with family and friends. This year, we will be having live music, Yoga, food trucks, food demonstrations, face painting and more!

This season, all sorts of wonderful things will be offered at the market! Things like Strawberries and Gardening art will be sold and who better to buy them from than your own community? There’s no better way to strengthen your local community than to shop and eat locally! By visiting the Uptowne Market you support our local farmers as well as businesses and community members. Also, you support yourself by providing healthy and fresh food for you and your family.
