The High Point Public Library provides library services at three additional locations:

  • City Hall at Municipal Northpoint
  • Southside Recreation Center- Family Resource Center
  • Macedonia Family Resource Center

City Hall at Municipal Northpoint,

located at 136 Northpoint Ave. is a convenient location to pick up library materials you have placed on hold.  Simply specify City Hall at Municipal Northpoint as your preferred “pick-up” location when you place your hold.  You will be notified when the item is available for you at City Hall at Municipal Northpoint.  You can also return library materials to City Hall Municipal Northpoint, and you can pay overdue fees there.  The Friends of the Library also offer books for sale there every day.  City Hall at Municipal Northpoint is open Monday – Thursday 8:00am - 5:00pm and Fridays from 8:00am - 6:00pm.  336-883-3104.

Southside Recreation Center- Family Resource Center- 401 Taylor Avenue Macedonia Family Resource Center- 401 Lake Avenue

These two “Virtual” branches of the High Point Public Library, or TAP—technology access points use technology to link to all the resources of the main library.  By using the Internet to access the library’s on-line catalog to locate materials from the library’s collections, you can use your smart card issued by the library to place holds on the items you select as you search the library catalog on-line.

Library staff courier your materials to these satellite locations the next day or as soon as the item is available, and volunteers on duty there will check them out to you.  This is possible because the library uses volunteers who contract with the library to receive training from library professionals before they can operate these virtual branches.  The volunteers also receive regular supervision in the day-to-day operation of the virtual branches.

In addition to the traditional library services – getting a library card, using the Internet, and checking out books – our virtual branches offer all of the Internet  resources provided by the library such as on-line homework help, virtual reference assistance, as well as extensive on-line databases, downloadable audio books, and e-books.
