Meet The Junior Friends

The Junior Friends help keep the library in business during the summer. They volunteer hundreds and hundreds of hours, registering children for the Book Club; collating and stapling; shelving books; and assisting with programs.

Junior Friends also raise funds for the library that have been used to purchase such needed materials as a globe and a digital camera.

Several volunteers continue assisting during the school year with various ongoing projects.

The idea for Junior Friends began in 1993, when a steering committee of interested community residents began meeting with this goal in mind. The first Junior Friends meeting was held in August 1994.

Today, more than 30 Junior Friends volunteer more than 1,000 hours each summer.

In order to become a Junior Friend Volunteer, you must have completed fifth grade or be 11 years old.  Applications are available at the Children’s Reference Desk during starting in May.  For more information call 883-3666.
